Theory of change in action 2

(2) Campaign by Empty Homes Agency to promote the need for new powers for local authorities to tackle long-term empty property to help address housing need (2002-6)

Do reactive media work in response to stories on the housing crisis to promote need for action on private empty property

So that

At meeting with Housing Minister we promote the need for action on private empty property

So that

We pass the TEA test and get his agreement to launch a consultation on new powers

So that

We continue to promote the need for new powers at every opportunity in the media

So that

The Minister sets up a consultation on the issue

So that

We encourage positive responses to the government consultation

So that

We continue to make the case to government for action

So that

We meet with cross-party MPs to ensure the case for new powers is made from across the House

So that

We utilise opportunity of Housing Bill to ensure amendments raised from across the House

So that

We keep talking to officials so that they are briefed on possible policy options

So that

An amendment is successfully passed to Housing Bill

So that

We keep talking to officials on finer details

So that

We keep making the case for change in the media directly and with partners

So that

We join Housing Act implementation group once the Bill gains Royal Assent

So that

We offer support to Local Authorities in using the new powers

So that

We celebrate the first local authority to use the new ower to help address housing need.
