And into 2025!

2024 was a very busy year for me – from the last update in July, my full portfolio of interesting assignments continued – now taking me into 2025 and shows no signs, for now, of slowing down.

My work for Detention Forum, a network of over 50 independent organisations challenging the use of immigration detention in the UK, continues. At our last members’ meeting we agreed plans for a new campaign resource pack, which will seek to encourage campaigning against the government’s plans to expand the detention estate and to promote vision of a humane and practical alternative to immigration detention.

I am also working with Together with Refugees on a new national campaign organising network to support local campaigning action to promote fair and humane treatment of people seeking safety in this country. From all of my work with City of Sanctuary, it feels exciting to be a part of this initiative to support local expressions of support across the country.

My work with Shpresa Programme continues too; we will shortly start the third cohort of our migrant community leadership programme and will also look to produce videos from some of our leaders so that more people can benefit from this unique and practical approach to leadership.

I am also continuing to support the London Refugee Community Organisation Forum with a new schedule of training sessions on practical advocacy tools.

And there’s more … last year I drafted the latest version of my approach to campaigning. At the moment this text is in its final stages, but I will be looking to make it available on my website hopefully after Easter – do watch this space for more details!
